Dale Victor Wacker, the eldest son of Carl and Helen (Philliph) Wacker, was born on the 4th of July 1929, near Hartley, Iowa. Dale attended country school and graduated from Hartley High School in 1948.
After graduation, Dale's first job was as a mud tender to construct St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hartley. This would later evolve into his passion for the bricklaying trade.
In January 1951, Dale enlisted into the U.S. Army. While serving our country with the 326th Communication Recon. Co., Dale earned the Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, 2 Overseas Bars, and the United Nations Service Medal, and was Honorably Discharged in December 1952.
On March 21st, 1954, Dale married the love of his life, Elaine Tesch in Paullina, Iowa. Following, Dale continued his bricklaying career as a self-employed contractor. Dale and Elaine resided on their modest farm south of Hartley until 1979. In 1992, they moved to Wahpeton, Iowa, and returned to Hartley in 2006. Dale enjoyed woodworking, playing cards, camping, fishing, and his family, especially the grand kids.
Dale passed away December 3rd 2019, in Hartley at the age of 90. He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
Left to cherish his memory are his four children: Becky (Wayne) Naylor of Carrollton, TX, Nona (Harlyn) Hengeveld of Hartley, IA, Lon (Teresa) Wacker of Hartley, IA, Darren (Angela) Wacker of Ankeny, IA; 11 grand kids; 20 great-grand kids; two brothers: Kenny (Joan) Wacker of Albertville, MN, and Merle (Corene) Wacker of Ham Lake, MN, many other family and friends.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hartley.
