Daniel Joseph Ellis, the son of Robert and Suzanne (Teedan) Ellis was born May 15, 1965, in Omaha, Nebraska. His childhood years were spent in the Gretna, Nebraska area where he attended school and graduated from Gretna High School in 1983. In 1984, his son, Brandon was born. Daniel attended college at the University of Nebraska.
Daniel worked for Kroger Concrete for 10 years before moving to Spencer, Iowa, in 1995. He worked for Eaton Corporation for 21 years, and Metal Works for three years before starting his own business, Black Line Burning Co., in which he did controlled burning. He married Sharlene Hansen on September 14, 2013, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer, Iowa, and made their home in Ayrshire, Iowa.
Daniel enjoyed being outdoors, planting wildflowers, horticulture, hunting, fishing, ice fishing, boating, setting up youth hunts, listening to rock music and was a huge Nebraska Husker’s fan. He was a member of many organizations including Ducks Unlimited and Pheasants Forever.
Daniel passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2020, at Osceola Health Center in Sibley, Iowa, at the age of 55. He was preceded in death by his father; and nephew, Steve Schram.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sharlene of Ayrshire, IA; one son, Brandon (Stephanie) Behney of Greta, NE; three stepchildren: Brittany (Zach), Julia (Ethan), and Hillary Miller; six grandchildren: Jaxson, Dylan, Evalynn, Eden, Iris, and Lilly; his mother, Suzanne Orosco (Jim) of Gretna, NE; one brother, Robby; four sisters: Cheryl (John) Schram, Cynthia Marshal, Peggi (Mike) DeRay, and Marla (Tom) Rodis; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
