Daniel Lee Roberts, the son of Elwin and Helen Peck Roberts was born in Curlew, IA on August 31, 1937. He attended school in Emmetsburg, IA.
Daniel entered the U.S. Navy in 1956 serving on the USS Bremerton until his honorable discharge in 1960. He then attended a trade school in Ames, IA to become a bricklayer. He married Dona Allison on February 11, 1995 at First Congregational Church in Spencer. Dan worked at the Spencer Packing Plant for 16 years before retiring as a machinist for Eaton Corp. after 23 years.
Daniel enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, working at the Clay County Fair, and wintering in Texas. He volunteered as a Little League Baseball coach for many years and enjoyed watching his grandchildren's sports.
Daniel passed away Friday, July 20, 2012 at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 74. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Karen, an infant sister, and a nephew Dale Roberts.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Dona of Royal; 4 children, Becky (Ken) Bisaillon of Royal, Jeff (ZoeAnn) Roberts of Primghar, IA, Jody (Mike) Praul of Augusta, ME and John (Abby) Roberts of Baltic, SD; 3 step children, Rich Smock of Muscatine, IA, Rod (Lisa) Smock of Muscatine, IA, and Rob (Amber) Allison of Belleview, NB; 10 grandchildren; 7 step grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 1 step great-grandchild; one brother Elwin 'Butch' (Patsy) Roberts of Dwight, KS; one sister Charlotte Kirkpatrick of Lime Springs, IA; one aunt Vi Roberts of Spencer, IA; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
