Daniel Ray Wetherell

     Daniel Ray Wetherell, the son of Billy and Mary (Streufert) Wetherell, was born on July 7, 1976, in Primghar, IA. He received his early education at South O’Brien Schools and graduated from there. He attended Wayne State and graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Political Science. He then moved to Omaha for a short time, before moving to California to be near his dad.  

     Daniel entered into the military on February 16, 2004, serving in the United States Army. While in the military he served in Iraq and Afghanistan. He received two Commendation Medals for extraordinary service. He was honorably discharged on April 14, 2009. He then served in the National Guard out of Storm Lake. While in the military, he enjoyed traveling around Europe in his time off. Following the service, he moved to Sutherland. He worked at Mugshots and was the Library Director. He was very active in the community. Daniel liked to read, play on the computer and was a history buff. He was working on a project for The Forgotten Iowa Historical Society.

     He passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2018, at the Baum Harmon Hospital in Primghar, at the age of 41. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary LaRaye; two sisters: Susan and Sandy Wetherell and his stepmom, Nadine

     Left to cherish his memory are his father, Bill of Fairfield, CA; two brothers: Steve (Joann) of Sutherland, IA and Scott of Sutherland, IA; nephews: Cody Taylor of Terril, IA and Curt Wetherell of Sutherland, IA; other relatives and friends.

SERVICES
Memorial Services will be 10:00 A.M., Saturday, May 26th, at the R.L. Johannsen Center in Sutherland, IA.

Military Services will be conducted by the American Legion Post #152 of Sutherland.
