Darlene Herrin, the daughter of Claus and Dena (Deneui) Wolthuis was born October 7, 1926 in Everly, IA. Her childhood years were spent in the Everly area. She graduated from Okoboji High School in 1945.
Darlene moved to California for a while, working in an orange factory. She married Harold Herrin on March 15, 1947 in Jackson, MN. She worked at the North Y Truck Stop, the Everly Caf�, and Wonder Bread, before doing childcare until her retirement.
Darlene enjoyed gardening, going to the Casino, playing Bingo and traveling with her husband, but her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.
Darlene passed away Saturday, January 17, at Longhouse, at the age of 88. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Darwin; 4 brothers, Harm, Gerhart, George, and Martin; and 2 sisters, Alta and Matilda.
Left to cherish her memory are her 3 daughters, Deanna (Ervin) Orwig of Spencer, IA, Judy (Barry) Forbes of Lake Park, IA, Joleen Runkle of Spencer, IA, one step-son, Darrell (Christine) Herrin of Ankeny, IA; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Clara Feaster of Spencer, IA; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Darlene's name.
SERVICES
Funeral services will take place 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, January 21, at Hope Reformed Church in Spencer.
