Darrel Rae Walton, the son of Boyd and Edna (Allen) Walton, was born January 21, 1945 in Everly, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Everly, where he received his education, graduating from Everly High School in 1962. After his schooling, he worked in Spencer, Iowa at Globe Machinery. He later entered the military and served with the U.S. Army in Germany from 1965 until his honorable discharge in 1967.
Darrel married Cheryl Bonar on March 20, 1966 in Everly, Iowa. After their marriage, they lived in Everly, where he worked as a self-employed electrician for 35 years until he was forced to retire following injuries received in a car accident in 2001. Darrel and Cheryl also owned and operated the Outcast and C&D Coffee Shop for 20 years. He enjoyed golf in his spare time along with spending time with family and friends.
He passed away at the Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at the age of 72. Darrel was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Cheryl in 2006; one son, Michael E. Walton; granddaughter, Michaela Olson and two brothers: Ronnie and Larry Walton.
Darrel is survived by his daughter, Robin and her husband, DuWayne Olson of St. Michael, MN; two grandchildren: Johnathon and Cassandra Olson; two sisters: Sharon (Ken) Sawyer of Humboldt, IA and Judy (Don) Bailey of Pomeroy, IA; other relatives and many friends.
