Darrell James Boger, was born August 12, 1943, in Denison, Iowa, to the late Loretta Boger. He attended school at Westside and later in Denison. At the age of 54, he completed his GED. He worked for Marvin Jeschke, later went to work at Farmbest, which later became Farmland Meatpack, for about 18 years. He and his wife, Janice Boger managed campgrounds for Thousand Adventures in Iowa and Kansas. After a move to Kiron, he worked for Midwest Plant at Ida Grove.
He was married to Gloria Jorgensen and together they had two children, Dean and Denise. He later married Janice Meyer on January 15, 1969, and to this union they had a daughter, Darla.
Darrell passed away on September 15, 2013, at Longhouse Residence in Spencer at the age of 70. He is preceded in death by Ferd and Martha Boger; his mother, Loretta; father and mother-in-law, Raymond and Alice Meyer; and stepson, Stanley Dutler.
Survivors include: his wife, Janice; children: Dean Boger, Denise (Boger) Schlecta and Darla (Boger)Vicking; stepchildren: Scot Dutler and wife, Kathy, Bonnie (Dutler) Handeland, Donna Louwrens, Diane Lorenzen, and daughter-in-law, Sandy Dutler; 16 grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 5 aunts: Jenell Beam of Arion, Erma Fretz of Charter Oak, Virginia Boger of Denison, Vera Schumann and Roberta Hall of Gowrie; many cousins and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, September 19, 2013 at First English Lutheran Church in Spencer.
