Darwin Gunnerson

July 17, 1939 — September 4, 2010

Darwin Elmer Gunnerson, the son of Elmer and Esther (Mueller) Gunnerson was born July 17, 1939, in Sioux Rapids, IA. He was baptized and confirmed in the St. John Church of Christ of rural Peterson. He received his early education and graduated from Peterson High School in Peterson. After graduating, Darwin enlisted in the Navy in 1957 until his honorable discharge in 1962. He then married Janice Miller on July 8, 1962, in the United Methodist Church in Sutherland. Darwin lived and farmed in Sutherland. He was a member of Ruritan, ABIFF Lodge of Sutherland, and the Color Blind Tractor Club. He also enjoyed car racing, tractors, visiting with others, but his biggest love was spending time with his family and grandkids. Darwin was preceded in death by his father, and granddaughter, Kayla Selk. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Janice; two daughters, Kim Goeders of Mallard, IA, and Londa (Gary) Witte, of Albert City, IA; one son, Brian (Cristie Tewes) of Sutherland, IA; 10 grandchildren; his mother, Esther, who resides at St. Lukes Nursing Home, Spencer, IA; two brothers, Dave (Karen) Gunnerson and Terry (Sandi) Gunnerson, all of Peterson, IA; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

SERVICES

Funeral Services will take place Wednesday September 8, at the United Methodist Church in Sutherland at 2:00 P.M.

VISITATION

Visitation will take place Tuesday September 7, at Warner Funeral Home in Sutherland from 5-8:00 P.M. with the family present from 6-8:00 P.M. with a Masonic service at 7:30 P.M.
