David Carroll Bailey, the son of Edvin Dell and Greta Mae Nunn Bailey, was born November 1, 1936 in Peterson, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Peterson, Iowa. He later moved to Missouri, where he graduated from high school in Labell, MO. Following his schooling, he entered the military and served with the U.S. Navy from December of 1954, until his honorable discharge in November 8, 1958.
David married Joan Louise Simonsen on July 15, 1956 in Sioux Rapids, Iowa. Following their marriage, they lived on the West Coast, until moving back to Sioux Rapids. David was President and CEO of Simonsen Iron Works, Inc. for 39 years, until his retirement in 2005. They had moved to Spencer in 2000. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer. David was also a past member of the City Council in Sioux Rapids, Iowa.
Dave passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at the age of 71. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Homer.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Joan of Spencer; two sons: Alan Bailey and his wife, Lisa of Spirit Lake and Bret Bailey of Chanhassen, MN; one brother, Truel and his wife, Darla Bailey of Sutherland, IA; one sister, Ella Strahman of Grand Junction, CO; three grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, May 24, 2008, at Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer.
Memorials may be directed to the Abben Cancer Center in Spencer.
