David Edmonds

David Charles Edmonds, the son of Estal and Eva (Nelson) Edmonds was born December 21, 1952, in Onawa, Iowa. Dave spent his childhood in Little Sioux, Iowa, surrounded by family and the Loess Hills. He graduated from West Harrison High School in Mondamin, Iowa, in 1971. He attended Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa, where 'Barney' was a member of the wrestling team, TKE Frat and the PIT. He graduated in 1975, and began working full-time at I-Go (United Van Lines.) Dave married Myrna Fonley on August 5, 1978, in Spencer, Iowa. He worked at UPS for 31 years before retiring in 2010. Dave's greatest joy in life was hunting, fishing, and teaching his sons and grandchildren about conservation. He also enjoyed coaching his sons' baseball teams. Dave passed away Friday, July 31, 2015, at his home in Spencer following a decade-long battle with kidney cancer. He is preceded in death by his mother, Eva Edmonds, brother-in-law, Merle Smith and father-in-law, Duane Fonley. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Myrna of Spencer, IA; two sons: Joshua (Tiffani) Edmonds, and Brandon Edmonds; four grandchildren: David Edmonds, Rex Edmonds, Barrett Edmonds and Maja Edmonds; his father, Estal Edmonds of Little Sioux, IA; one brother, Dennis (Kathy) Edmonds of Centennial, CO; three sisters: Lois (Arnie) Jensen of Blair, NE, Linda Smith of Bellvue, NE, and Bonnie (Larry) Starman of Wynot, NE; mother-in-law, Miriam Fonley of Spencer, IA; and many other relatives and friends.
