David Eric Olson, the son of Clarence and Rosemary (Koll) Olson, was born on August 13, 1949 in Storm Lake, Iowa. He grew up and received his education in Sioux Rapids, where he graduated from high school in 1967. Following high school, he worked for Skov Trucking in Rembrandt. He moved with his family to Leavenworth, KS in 1969 where he worked at Hallmark Cards.
On October 3, 1970, David married Linda Simonson in Sioux Rapids, where they made their home until July 1971 when their daughter, Kristina, was born. They then moved to Jarbalo, KS where David worked as a correctional officer at the Leavenworth State Penitentiary before moving back to Iowa to live in Spencer in January of 1972. David then worked as a police officer for the Spencer Police Department for five years and then Superior Manufacturing for a short time before going to work at the Eaton Corporation until his retirement.
He loved his home life and family and was the ultimate caring father and grandfather and most genuine and faithful friend, according to Linda.
David passed away on September 17, 2015 at the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City at the age of 66. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, William and sister, Irma.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Linda of Spencer; daughter, Kristina Hall (Tracy) of Spencer; grandson, Jarett Hall; granddaughter, Jessica Curry (Shon); great grandchildren: Ayanah and Ayden Curry; brother, Michael (Cindy) Olson of Kansas City, KS; sister, Mary Olson (James Moutray of Eudora, KS; sister-in-law, Debra Olson of Grinnell, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
There will be a private family service held at a later date.
Memorials may be given to People For Pets in Spencer.
