David Lynn Loerts, the son of Wayne and Ruth Backer Loerts, was born February 7, 1967 in Sibley, Iowa. He was raised on a farm in rural Ashton, Iowa and received his education in the Sibley School System, graduating in 1985. Following high school, he attended Iowa Lakes Community College, where he graduated in 1987. After his graduation, he moved to Spencer, Iowa, where he worked at the elevator.
David married Teresa Vondrak on November 25, 1989 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Sioux City, Iowa. Following their marriage, they lived in Spencer, where he drove truck for Midland Transportation for many years and for the past 6 years for Dohrn Transportation. David also enjoyed hobby farming in his spare time. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer. David enjoyed his role as support staff at the Spencer Nationals Tractor Pull at the Clay County Fair. He also was a member of the Milford Antique Tractor Pullers and enjoyed collecting tractors. He was, most of all, a loving father and husband.
David passed away suddenly near Tipton, Iowa as a result of injuries received in a trucking accident on Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at the age of 39. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Wessel and Tillie Loerts and his maternal grandparents: Art and Ida Backer.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa of Spencer; his two sons: Cody age 11 and Coleton age 5 at home in Spencer; his parents: Wayne and Ruth Loerts of Sibley, Iowa; three brothers and their wives: Ken and Wilma Loerts of Sibley, Iowa, Doug and Teresa Loerts of Milford, Iowa and Steve and Helen Loerts of Spencer, Iowa; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Nina & Elmer Vondrak of Hinton, Iowa; other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M. on Friday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a Catholic Vigil Service at 6:30 P.M. and the family will be present from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
