David Martin Blair, the son of Harold and Leona (Nydahl) Blair, was born October 29, 1938 in Spencer, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Everly, Iowa, where he received his education, graduating from Everly High School. Following his schooling, he worked at the Spencer Packing Plant for 2 years.
David married Joyce Follon on March 16, 1958 in Everly, Iowa. Following their marriage, they lived on a farm north of Everly, where they farmed and raised cattle for over 50 years. David was a member of the United Methodist Church of Everly. In his spare time, David enjoyed hunting and trapping, going to farm sales and looking over the old tractors and restoring feed wagons and selling them. He also enjoyed dancing, especially polka and the old time waltzes. David was also active in the Everly Community, serving on the elevator board and serving as a member of the Clay County Cattleman for many years.
David passed away at Longhouse Residence in Spencer, Iowa on Friday, February 26, 2010 at the age of 71. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Joyce of Everly; one son, Dale and his wife, Pam Blair of Everly; one daughter, Deb and her husband, Kelly Jessen of Everly; five grandchildren: Brooke and Ben Blair, Kimberly and her husband, Jeff Heinrichs and Thomas and Jacob Jessen; two brothers: Charles Blair and his wife, Pat of Nevis, MN and Stan Blair and his wife, Karen of Guttenburg, IA; one sister, Karen Bostad and her husband, John of Mound, MN; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30a.m.,Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at the United Methodist Church in Everly, Iowa.
