David Michael Haviland, 54, of Spencer, passed away after courageously battling a long illness on Monday, April 3, 2017, at the Spencer Hospital surrounded by his beloved family.
David was born January 10, 1963, in Fort Dodge, IA. After graduating from High School in 1981, he spent the majority of his career helping people find the perfect vehicle, and cherished the relationships he formed with his valued customers. He was most recently employed with H&N Chevy Buick in Spencer.
In his free time he enjoyed many outdoor activities including boating, fishing and bicycling. He was a RAGBRAI enthusiast and participated as often as he could. He was a fan of Minnesota Vikings and Iowa Hawkeyes Football, and so enjoyed watching his son participate in Soccer, Basketball, and Flag Football. David and his family are blessed to call Hope Reformed Church home. David was a loving father, husband and friend to all. He made friends easily wherever he went. His warm nature, quirky sense of humor and contagious laugh will live on in the memories of many.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Stephanie of 15 years, son Braden (11), sister Debrah (Bob) Abbott of Fairfax, sister Kelly (Mark) Bradley of Fort Dodge, brother Rod (Cathy) Haviland of Emmetsburg, brother Todd Haviland of Fredericksburg VA, mother Patsy Pendlebury of Spencer, step-mother Nancy Haviland and her children Vicki, Laura, and Dan, along with many loving nieces, nephews and extended family.
David is joining in heaven his grandparents, his father Donald Haviland, his nephews Justin Bradley and baby boy Bradley, his step-father John Pendlebury, and step-brother Jeff Junkman.
A special thank you to the Doctors, Nurses and Staff at the Spencer Hospital and the Mayo Clinic in Rochester for their loving care and support. Also thank you to Warner Funeral Home for all of the arrangements.
