David Francis Severson

    David Francis Severson, the son of Henry and Adlyn Severson was born July 20, 1943 in Spencer, IA. His childhood years were spent in the Ruthven, IA area, where he attended school and graduated from Ruthven High School in 1961. He attended Iowa Lakes Community College and Buena Vista College and graduated with his B.S. in Business. 

     Dave enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1964 and served until his Honorable Discharge in 1968. During his time in the Air Force, Dave did a 9 month tour to Vietnam.  

    He married Connie Williamson on October 24, 1964 in Ruthven, IA. They lived at the Air Force base in Smyrna, TN and Jackson, MN  before making Spencer, IA their permanent home in 1968.  

     Dave worked as the service manager for Lee Holt Motors for 38 years, until his retirement in 2007.  Dave’s greatest passion was golf which he enjoyed with his many good friends.  He loved his winters in Texas where many rounds of golf were played and fun spent with family and friends.  There was nothing better for Dave though than spending time with his precious grandchildren, children, and wife. Dave was a gentle, caring, funny soul who was loved by many. 

  Dave passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer, IA, at the age of 79. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hank and Adlyn Severson, wife Connie, parents-in-law, Gene and Peanuts Williamson,  brother, Don Severson, and sister, Mary Jo Rubis and one brother-in-law, Ron Williamson. 

  Left to cherish his memory are his 2 children, Deb (Denny) Michurski of Buffalo, MN and Mike (Rebekah Avery) of Scottsdale, AZ;  4 grandchildren, Hannah, Alyssa, Christopher, and Andrew, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. 

  The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful nurses and other staff at Spencer Hospice and St. Luke Lutheran Home who cared for Dave in a very loving and caring way.
