Dean Eldon Kalvig, the son of Wilbur and Ruth (Johnson) Kalvig was born April 24, 1929 in Arlington, SD. His childhood years were spent in the Lake Preston, SD area, where he attended school and graduated from Lake Preston High School. He attended college in Mankato, MN and South Dakota State College in Brookings, SD.

Dean married Doris Falla on March 4, 1950 in Brookings, SD. They moved to Spencer, IA, in 1964, where Dean worked at H&N as a service manager and salesman for 40 years, before his retirement in 2004. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and especially spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer, IA.

Dean passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 89. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Lynn Kalvig; and one sister, Wilma Melstad.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Doris of Spencer, IA; 3 children, Alan Kalvig of Mankato, MN, Susanne (Mark) Hallett of Spencer, IA, and Cammy (Jerry) Uittenbogaard of Sheldon, IA; 5 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

SERVICES

Funeral services will take place 1:00 P.M., Monday, May 7, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer.

VISITATION

Visitation will take place Sunday, May 6, at Warner Funeral Home in Spencer, starting at 2:00 P.M., with family present from 2-4:00 P.M.
