Dean Henry Wagner, the son of Otto (Dooley) and Lillie (Meiske) Wagner, was born February 25, 1931, in Hartley, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Hartley where he received his early education and later graduated from Hartley High School in 1950.
On December 23, 1950, he was united in marriage to Joyce Ihry of Everly, Iowa, in Jackson, Minnesota. Following his marriage, he was drafted into the Army in January of 1952. He took his basic training at Camp Roberts, California, then Ranger's training at Fort Hood, Texas. He served in the 24th Division in Korea and received his honorable discharge at Camp Carson, Colorado. Dean arrived home from the service on January 1, 1954. Following his service to the military, Dean operated Red's Caf� and later a Drive-Inn in Hartley. He and his wife operated a Custodial Home and then farmed until his retirement. He was a member of the Arthur Kirchoff Post #228 - American Legion of Hartley. Dean was also involved in the Masons and was a member of the Abu-Bekr Shrine Temple in Sioux City.
Dean passed away unexpectedly at the Spencer Hospital on Saturday, June 10, 2006, at the age of 75. His parents preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce, of Spencer; one son, Korey and his wife, Sheri Wagner of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin; one granddaughter, Heather Wagner; one brother, Junior and his wife, Joyce Wagner of Hartley, Iowa; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Graveside services will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 13, 2006, at Pleasant View Cemetery, Hartley, Iowa.
