Dean Howard Viedenkamp

September 4, 1924 — August 29, 2011

Dean 'Bud' Howard Viedenkamp, the son of Leonard and Violet Jensen Viedenkamp, was born September 4, 1924 in Kenosha, WI. His family moved to Spencer when he was four. They lived in Riverton Township where he helped his parents farm. Graduated High School in 1941 from Spencer, he then attended Iowa State University. Dean married Ann Cermak on December 23, 1951 in Pella, Iowa. They made their home in Spencer where he continued Dairy Farming. In 1959, their son, Mark was born. They moved to Indiana in 1960 where he worked as a machinist at Standard Forging of East Chicago, IN. Then in 1981, they returned to the family farm once again. During his lifetime, he was a member of the Evening Shade Lodge #312, Knights Temple and Shrine. He was installed as Worshipful Master at the age of 27. He was very active in helping people with their Degree work, including his son. He became a 50 year Mason in 1971 and later a 33 degree Mason. He enjoyed traveling (though not by air), hunting, fishing and boating. He took a special interest in caring for wounded and sick animals he helped to restore while watching all wildlife on the farm that became a wildlife refuge. But most of all he loved watching his grandsons in sporting events. He is survived by his wife, Ann of 59 years; his only child, Mark and daughter-in-law, Lynda; three grandsons: Hunter, Blake and Tanner; 3 brother and sisters-in-law: Bill & Janet Chermak of Griffith, IN, George & Bev Chermak of Minden, NV and Ray & Nancy Chermak of Crown Point, IN and family friend, Pat Jacobsen. We will miss your smile and twinkle in your eyes. But most of all we will miss your heart of gold and your love for all of God's creatures.
