Delbert Edison Lynn Jr., was born December 30, 1950 in Spencer, Iowa, the son of Nora E. (Scharnberg) and Delbert Edison Lynn Sr. Delbert grew up on the family farm southeast of Everly, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed from the Hope Lutheran Church in Everly. Delbert graduated from the Everly High School in 1969 and from Mankato State College in 1974. Delbert worked for ARCO Oil Company for 30 years in California, Colorado and Montana until ARCO was sold to a British Oil Company. He worked for Southern California Edison for the past several years.
Delbert was an avid collector. He was a member of the Corvair Car Club and owned a Rampside Corvair pickup. Along with his friend, Howard, they were also restoring a Corvair car. He also collected model railroad sets. One was a G scale 1/24 LGB, engines, cars and tracks; a HO 1/87 Swiss narrow guage, and N 1/160 American made train set. He also was a collector of license plates. He will be missed by his family, and his many friends in California.
Delbert passed away on January 30, 2012 at the age of 61. He is preceded in death by his grandparents and parents.
Delbert is survived by his brothers: David (Karen) Lynn of Spencer, IA and Douglas (Mary) Lynn of Everly, IA; sister, Milli (Loren) Krull of George, IA; nephews nieces and great nieces, other family members and friends.
SERVICES
Memorial services will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, April 28, 2012 at the Warner Funeral Home in Everly.
