Delbert Petersen

July 17, 1916 — January 25, 2015

Delbert Petersen, the son of Alma Petersen, was born July 17, 1916 in Sutherland, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in O'Brien County, where he received his early education in country schools. Delbert entered the military in 1943 and served with the U.S. Army during WWII until his honorable discharge in 1946. He married Margaret Enenbach on June 22, 1946 in Sanborn, Iowa. Following their marriage, they made their home on a farm near Hartley. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hartley. Delbert was also a member of Arthur W. Kirchhoff Post #288 of the American Legion. Over the years, Delbert and Margaret enjoyed dancing. In his later years, he enjoyed lunches at Steve's with his many friends. He always retained his love of agriculture even after retirement. Delbert passed away at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley on Sunday, January 25, 2015 at the age of 98. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret in 2002 and an infant son, William J. Petersen. Left to cherish his memory are his two children: David Petersen and his wife, Ellyn of Hartley and Ann Petersen (Ron Muhlbauer) of Arnolds Park, IA; a half-brother, Jack Muhs of Kansas City, MO; a brother-in-law, Ray Emery of Norwalk, IA; other cousins, nieces and nephews and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hartley.

INTERMENT
Pleasant View Cemetery Hartley, Iowa A lunch and time of fellowship will be held at the Legion Club in Hartley following the graveside services. A military flag presentation will be held following the graveside services. Memorials may be directed to the Eaton House Project in Hartley.
