Delbert Shannon Boyles was born June 7, 1947, to Delbert Lloyd Boyles and Muriel Lorraine Roberts Boyles. He attended school in Everly, graduating from high school in 1965.
On June 18, 1966, Shannon married Nancy Cooper, and on December 16, 1972, his daughter, Jodi Lynn, was born.
Shannon was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church in Everly, confirmed March 26, 1961 by Rev. Daniel Cronrath. He enjoyed all sports in school, especially baseball, in which he played all positions. When he was younger, he always wanted to be a cowboy and that is why most of his jobs involved horses and cattle. Throughout his life, he worked at various jobs in Iowa and Colorado. After moving to Everly, he worked in the lumberyard for Shopper's Supply, until he was forced to retire due to his failing health.
Shannon passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at the age of 60 from complications due to his longtime battle with diabetes. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
He is survived by his parents, Dub and Myrt Boyles of Everly; brother, Allen of Everly; daughter, Jodi Anderson of Greeley, Colorado; nephew, Ben of Spencer; nieces, DeDe of Everly and Jessie of Spencer; and great-niece, Kaleigh Hauschen of Spencer; other family and friends.
