Delmar "Del" Julius Muckey, the son of Gilbert and Florence Mae Harvey Muckey, was born April 6, 1934 on a farm in Douglas County, SD. His early years were spent in South Dakota until the age of 9, the family then moved to Madison, MN where he graduated from high school. He attended and graduated from St. Cloud University. Del entered the United States Army in October 1954 and served until his Honorable Discharge in July of 1956.
Del married Marcie Rae Nelson at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Hills, MN. They moved to Spencer in 1958. Del was a member of First Congregational Church where he has been an active member serving on many boards and various other volunteer roles. Del has belonged to the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years and a member of Abu Bekr Shrine.
Del worked 31 years for Home Federal Savings and Loan in Spencer and for a few years at Northwest Federal Bank. He retired from the Spencer Hospital in 1998 where he worked in the business office for five years.
Del passed away on September 23, 2015 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 81. He is preceded in death by his father, mother and step-father, Leonard Baxter; 3 brothers, Glenn Muckey, Lloyd Muckey and Lenny Baxter; 2 sisters: Rosie Saboe and infant Wanda Baxter.
Del is survived by his wife, Marcie of Spencer; son, Lance David Muckey and wife, Christine of Henderson, NV; brother, Roy (Barbara) Muckey of Oregon; children close to their hearts: Christopher (Jen) Jones of Marshalltown and Kelly Jones Preville of Mesa, AZ; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, September 26, 2015 at First Congregational Church in Spencer.
