Delores "Dee" Sprague, the daughter of Dale Gordon and Florence Henrietta Perley Thompson, was born December 17, 1923 in Sioux City, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Sloan, where she received her education. Dee continued her education at Wayne State Teacher's College, majoring in music and later attended Buena Vista College, where she received her bachelor's degree in education.
Dee taught school in the Elementary Spencer School System for over 50 years. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer, where she was a member of the Women's Circle. Dee also was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, NEA and Spencer Women of Today. She especially enjoyed music, singing and the theatre. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, gardening, playing the piano, sewing and traveling.
Dee passed away at the Spencer Hospital in Spencer, Iowa on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at the age of 84. She was preceded in death by her parents: Dale & "Etta" Thompson and a brother, Gordon Dale Thompson.
Left to cherish her memory are one son, David Dale Sprague and his wife, Wanda of Parker, CO; one daughter, Jean Ann Bolton of Sheldon, IA; her grandchildren: Dawn Rachelle Vera, Brooke Atkinson, Jaime Sprague, Sara Sprague, Hailey Sprague, Rachel Sprague; a great grandchild, Macie Vera; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Saturday, May 17, 2008 at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.
