Her childhood years were spent in Spencer, where she received her education, graduating from Spencer High School in 1964. Following high school, she married and moved to Fostoria, Iowa, where she worked at Wonder Whip for many years. Her son, Per Clarke was born during that time.
Diane met and married 'the love of her life' Kim Kunzmann and they continued to live in Spencer, where she worked as a meter reader for People's Natural Gas for 18 years. Diane and Kim moved to Spirit Lake and opened their own business, Exhaust Systems, where they worked together. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer. Diane also loved street rodding and spent many years attending the street rod nationals at Louisville, Oklahoma City and Syracuse, where she made many friends. Didy was a member of the Iowa, Minnesota and National Street Rod Associations. She was also a founding member of the Old Iron Company Car Club in Spencer, IA, and was the first newsletter editor for that group. She was also a big Vikings fan and had many years enjoying her life with Kim.
After a long and valiant battle with cancer, Diane moved on to her next amazing life on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at the age of 67. Diane was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Charlene McAmis, a brother-in-law, Neal McAmis and her father-in-law, Nyle Kunzmann and a sister-in-law, Mary Kunzmann.
