Dixie Jean Rigby

    Dixie Jean Rigby, the daughter of Paul and Elsie (Koenen) Zierke was born December 9, 1945 in Worthington, MN. Her childhood years were spent in Worthington, where she attended school. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Matthews Lutheran Church. Dixie had polio at a young age and spent a few weeks in an Iron Lung at Sister Kenny Institute. She graduated from Worthington High School in 1965.

     Dixie married Larry Rigby on February 6, 1971 at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Worthington, MN. They made their home in Spencer, IA, where she was a homemaker. She enjoyed crafts and card making.  She looked forward to attending the Clay County Fair each year.  She did volunteer work at St. Luke. Dixie was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Spencer and NW Iowa Polio Survivors.

     Dixie passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer, IA, at the age of 73. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Larry; a daughter, Jennifer; 3 sisters, Gloria Ann Zierke, Doris Markman, and Dianna Maas; 2 brothers-in-law, Robert Wiese and Donald Markman; half brothers and sister, Lorene Reed, Leonard Zierke, Loyd Zierke, and Melvin Zierke.

     Left to cherish her memory are her brothers, Daryle (Geri) Zierke of Chiloquin, OR and Dennis (Janet) Zierke of Worthington, MN; 2 sisters, Donna (Rodney) Scholtes of Wilmont, MN and Darlene Wiese of Pilot Grove, MO; a brother-in-law Maynard Maas of Owatonna, MN; many other relatives and special friends and caregivers especially Liz, Marcia and Donna.

SERVICES
Memorial services will take place 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 30, at First English Lutheran Church in Spencer.

VISITATION
Visitation will take place one hour prior tot he service at the church.
INTERMENT
Riverside Cemetery
Spencer, Iowa
