Anna L. Crestinger (better known as Dollie), was born July 28, 1933, at Fifield, IA (today it's the Pella Red Rock Reservoir). She was the daughter of Gertie and John Bloodsworth and was educated in the Pella Schools.
Dollie married Lyle Cretsinger on September 12, 1951, at 'The Little Brown Church'. She joined Lyle in Alaska while he was serving in the military. Following his discharge, they lived in several communities for Lyle's Spencer Construction Field Superintendent work. In 1958, they chose Spencer as their roots.
This union was blessed with a son, Craig and daughter, Cynthia. Dollie felt life was a gift. She loved hosting in her home and sharing little plates of goodies with friends. Being a wife, mother, grandma, and great-grandma, was an honor for her and often quoted her motto's 'Love Conquers All' and 'This Too Shall Pass.' She treasured family and friends being together to share time and create memories.
The grandchildren were a big part of her life and they knew they were spoiled with love. Being a great-grandma for the first time with Owen Ash Cretsinger also added much joy.
Dollie worked for Carroll's Bakery, she served as the City Hostess/Membership Director for 27 years with the Spencer Chamber of Commerce, and marketed 3 years for 'The Highlands.' Dollie had her heart and soul in Spencer by being dedicated to many clubs, organizations and 40 years managing the Clay County Fair Information booths.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Lyle of 60 years; son Craig, and wife Karen, of Spencer, IA; Grandson, Zachary, and wife Holly, and Great-grandson, Owen Ash Cretsinger of Ankeny, IA; Daughter, Cynthia, and husband, Dale Swanson, Granddaughter, Christine, Grandson, Scott, of Adel, IA. Sister, Irene Van Wyk; and brothers: John, wife Sherrie, and Tom, wife, Shirley of Pella, IA, brothers-in-law, Dean, wife, Sherrie, and Gene; Sisters-in-law, Leah, Maxine and Ruthann Cretsinger; special nieces and nephews and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; Lyle's parents; brothers-in-law: Ross Van Wyk, Gordon and Gary Cretsinger.
Dollie's life was well lived. 'And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest!' She chose her journey with 'God has my Lifeline and I want to remain being Dollie.'
