Don Arthur Caquelin

Don Arthur Caquelin, the son of Raymond and Ethel Shillington Caquelin, was born January 11, 1932 in Lincoln Township, Wright County, Iowa. He grew up in Eagle Grove, IA, where he received his education in Eagle Grove and graduated in 1950. He served the United States Army in Korea from 1951 to 1952. He then attended Eagle Grove Community College and Iowa State University. Don married Evelyn Beatrice Peterson on November 23, 1957 in Boone, Iowa. Following their marriage they lived in Ames. He worked for the United State Post Office for 30 years. He retired in January 1989. His family moved to Spencer in 1967. Don enjoyed attending sporting events for his family, going to garage sales and auctions. Most of all Don especially loved spending time with his family. Don passed away on Friday, March 15, 2013 at the Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake at the age of 81. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Evelyn; his 2 sons: Tim and Phillip Caquelin and 2 brothers-in-law and 2 sisters-in-law. Left to cherish his memory are 2 daughters: Retta Caquelin of Boone, IA; Jane (Tim) Walters of Bowie, MD; one son, Robert (Mary Jo) Caquelin of Carlisle, IA; daughter-in-law, Sheree (Brad) Sanderson of Spirit Lake; his grandchildren: Lori (Wayne) Huss, Chris (Carrie) Mozena, Tom Mozena, Joe Mozena and his friend, Stephanie Jewells, Alec Caquelin, Jordyn Caquelin and Timothy Walters; 10 great grandchildren: Casey, Jonathon, Jeremiah, Dakota, Josie, Emma, Kylie, Jenna, Clayton and Carter; 3 brothers: Melvin (Norma) Caquelin, Ken (Norma) Caquelin and Dick (Donna) Caquelin; 2 sisters: Rachael Kvapil and Lois Foster; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
