On August 10, 1963, Donald Lamaak and Marcia Fritz were joined in marriage at Hebron Methodist Church. They started farming near Wall Lake, IA in the spring of 1964. Later in 1966 they moved to a farm north of Odebolt, where he raised corn, soybeans, oats, hay, pigs, chickens, milked cows and had an Angus cow/calf herd. He also enjoyed nurturing a huge garden. Bud and Marcia were proud to raise all three of their daughters on this farm and they were brought up also going to Trinity Lutheran Church in Odebolt.
When Bud retired from farming they bought an acreage near Early, IA where he enjoyed spending time gardening, taking care of the yard and fruit trees, and also helped a nearby neighbor with field work. Indoor activities included reading, creating bead banners, and putting together jigsaw puzzles. They celebrated their 50th anniversary on August 10, 2013 at their acreage. They found it was getting harder to take care of the acreage, and moved to Everly, IA, where their daughter Sharon and family live, on September 1, 2013. They also transferred their church membership to Christ the King Lutheran Church, Spencer, IA.
After having some health issues Don stayed at St Lukes Lutheran Home in Spencer, IA, where he passed away on November 12, 2016.
