Donald Edward Pearson

Donald Edward Pearson, the son of Earnest and Martina Petersen Pearson, was born March 8, 1927 at home near Meriden, Iowa. He received his early education in Larrabee. Don entered the U.S. Army on September 8, 1950 and served during the Korean Conflict until his honorable discharge on August 29, 1952. Don married Marleen Lorraine Gries on February 20, 1955 in Larrabee, Iowa. Following their marriage, Don farmed and raised cattle and hogs near Fostoria, Cherokee and Everly, Iowa. He belonged to the American Legion and was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Everly where he served on the Church Board. In later years, Don enjoyed working side by side with Marleen catering and he always said he was a good potato peeler. Don enjoyed any auctions, playing cards and dancing. Most of all, Don was a very loving husband, father and grandfather. Don passed away on February 7, 2011 at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 83. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Art, Roy, Lester and Edgar; and three sisters: Evelyn Mummert, Erma Mugge and Alice Hansen. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Marleen of Everly; two daughters and their husbands: Teresa and Rod Steuben of Everly, IA and Brenda Pearson and Tom Layman of Iowa City, IA; one son, Todd Pearson and Rachel Collins of Dallas, TX; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother, Marvin Pearson of Primghar, IA and one sister-in-law, Emma Pearson of Everly, IA; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at the United Methodist Church in Everly.
