Donald Eugene Sorensen

September 4, 1935 — March 31, 2010

Donald Eugene Sorensen, the son of Fred and Frances Sorensen, was born on September 4, 1935 in Superior, Iowa. After graduating from Spirit Lake High School in 1952, he entered the United States Air Force where he honorably served his country until September 1974. In April of 1958, he was married to Jacqueline R. O'Hearn and had four children, Duane of Spencer, Iowa, Jane of Ankeny, Iowa, Dawn of San Antonio, Texas and Jon also of Ankeny, Iowa. Donald enjoyed numerous outside activities, as long as the sun was shining he found any opportunity to enjoy the outside. Donald spent many years volunteering many man hours at the Spencer Little League. Also, through the years, was employed by Clay County Sheriff's Office, State of Iowa and Spencer Community Schools. Donald passed away on March 31, 2010, at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 74. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Rhonda and Betty; best friend and special brother-in-law, Virgil Hoffman of Milford, Iowa. He is currently survived by his children: Duane, Jane Carrington and her husband, Chuck, Dawn Haberthur and her husband, Chuck and Jonathan; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; special friends, Scott, Julie and Matthew Behrens; 2 sisters: Avis Hoffman of Milford and Carole Rasmussen of Omaha, NE; 3 brothers: Verland Sorensen of Spirit Lake, IA, George Sorensen of Odem, TX and Larry Sorensen of Storm Lake, IA; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held at 1:30pm on Saturday, April 3, 2010 at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.

Will begin at 4:00pm with the family present from 4:00 to 6:00pm at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.
