Donald Franklin Odendahl

Donald Franklin Odendahl, the son of Albert and Emma (Weiland) Odendahl, was born January 9, 1922 in Carroll, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Carroll, where he received his education at Carroll Schools. Don married Kathryn Meyers on February 21, 1944 in Willey, Iowa. Following their marriage, they lived in Carroll, where he was a self-employed agent for Sinclair Oil Company for 18 � years and then went to work for Uptown Sporting Goods in Carroll until his retirement in 1984. They remained in Carroll following his retirement and later moved to Spencer, Iowa in 1994, where they made their home. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer and the Knights Of Columbus. In his free time, Don enjoyed fishing and building model airplanes. On February 7, 2009, Don passed away at Longhouse Residence in Spencer at the age of 87. He was preceded in death by his parents; one great-granddaughter, Samantha Schulter; three brothers: George, Ed, and Arnold Odendahl; one son, James Odendahl; and one sister, Marie Odendahl. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kathryn of Spencer, two sons: Donald (Sherry) Odendahl of Wichita, KS, and Robert (Kathy) Odendahl of Perham, MN; one daughter, Donna (Fred) Mohr of Kingsville, TX; one daughter-in-law, Liz Odendahl of Carroll, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Louis (Erna) Odendahl of Manning, Iowa; as well as other relatives and friends.
