Donald Ray Durst was born February 7, 1933 to Balthasar and Helen Gutknecht Durst in Langdon, Iowa. He attended local country elementary schools and graduated from Spencer High School. Donnie joined the U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict. He returned home to start his life long career in agriculture, farming near Langdon.
He married Eileen Lentz on October 12, 1957. They raised two sons: Terry, born in 1959 and Michael in 1961.
Donnie enjoyed sports, especially the ones his sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were participating in. Donnie and Eileen were always the most devoted fans. They loved to travel for any reason with family and friends.
Donnie continued employment in the agriculture field after retiring from farming. Working for ASCS, RCIS and Fremont Grain. This kept him in contact with the life he loved. He was also a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Milford.
Though retired, Donnie continued to reap a harvest every year. His famous sweet corn was known to many friends and neighbors who shared in the bountiful crop.
Donald passed away on May 22, 2011 in Spencer at the age of 78. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister: Edna May Hein and three brothers: Ervin Durst, Paul Durst and Harold Gutknecht.
He is survived by his wife, Eileen; two sons Terry of Cherokee and Michael of Estherville; 3 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers and their wives: Glenn and Glenda Durst and Clifford and Ardell Durst; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. Donnie will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Milford.

VISITATION
Will begin at 11:00am on Wednesday with a Catholic Scripture Service at 6:30pm and the family will be present from 6:30 to 8:30pm at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.
