Donna Lea Pierson, the daughter of Rexford and Erma Carpenter Hansen, was born May 28, 1935 in Spencer, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Ruthven, Iowa, where she received her education, graduating from Ruthven High School in 1953. Following high school, she attended Iowa State Teacher's College for a short period of time.
Donna married Dick Pierson on April 10, 1955 at the United Methodist Church in Ruthven, Iowa. Following their marriage, they lived on acreage near Spencer, Iowa; where she worked at the YMCA and helped her husband raise quarter horses for many years. Donna and Dick also co owned the Party Room and Rental Center for many years, until their retirement. For the past several winters, they had wintered in Arizona. Donna was an avid Iowa Hawkeye Fan, a 50+ member of Beta Sigma Phi, loved driving snowmobiles, participating in sports and other outdoor activities. She also worked at the Clay County Fair over 30 years, several in which she was involved in the administration office. Donna will always be remembered by her distinctive twinkle in her eye and the smile on her face.
Donna passed away at the Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD on Wednesday, January 2, 2008 as a result of pancreatic cancer at the age of 72. She was preceded in death by her father, Rexford L. and her mother and father-in-law, Andy and Amanda Pierson.
She is survived by her husband, Dick of Spencer; her mother, Erma Hansen of Ruthven; two sons: Mark Pierson and his special friend, Kathy Decker of Greenville, IA and Brad Pierson of Spencer; one granddaughter, Brooke Pierson of Des Moines, IA; a great grandson, Tavian; one sister, Karole Graen of Storm Lake, IA; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Saturday, January 5, 2007 at Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer.
