Donna Lee Hansen

Donna Lee Hansen, the daughter of Thomas and Mildred (Simpson) Beedle, was born May 26, 1944, in Sioux Rapids, IA. Her childhood years were spent on farms near Sioux Rapids, Marathon and Laurens, Iowa, where she attended Cornell Elementary School and later attended and graduated from Marathon High School. She later graduated from a beauty school. After her schooling, she operated a beauty shop from her home in Sioux Rapids. She married John Bruns on July 1, 1967 in Sioux Rapids, IA. Following their marriage, they moved to Spencer, Iowa. To this union one son, Thomas was born. John passed away in 1970. Donna married Kirby Hansen on November 9, 1975 in Sioux Rapids. To this union one son, Colin was born. Following their marriage, she had various jobs as a waitress and raised her family. She enjoyed bowling, knitting, sewing, crocheting, playing bingo and going on her many family camping trips. She was always hatching a plan for a get-rich-quick scheme with Avon and Amway and others, but it was really about being out and socializing with people. She passed away at the Lake Park Care Center on Monday, December 16, 2013, at the age of 69. Donna was preceded in death by her parents and her two husbands. Left to cherish her memory are her two sons: Tom Bruns of Everly, IA and Colin Hansen and his wife, Angela of Montgomery, Alabama; one grandson, Shaun Hansen; other relatives and many friends.
