Donna Louise Pena, also known as 'Toots' was born in Peterson, IA on June 1, 1934 to George and Irma (Blackmer) Selzer. Her younger days were spent growing up on her parents' farm. Donna kept busy with chores and like feeding the Mallard Ducks. She would walk to school in rain or snow and graduated from Spencer High School in 1953. She worked for Northwestern Bell as an operator and receptionist.
Donna married Ronald Carpenter and to this union a son, Terry was born. After their divorce, Donna and Terry moved to California. Donna worked for various companies as a PBX operator and as a receptionist. At one job she was given Top Secret security clearance. In 1997 she retired from Black and Decker Co. in Pacoima, CA.
Donna married Robert Pena on May 18, 1974 in North Hollywood, CA. They lived in San Fernando, CA. On May 18, 2004 on their 30th anniversary, Donna converted to Catholicism. They were remarried in St. Ferdinand's Church on their 60th wedding anniversary.
Donna loved to travel, particularly in their motorhome. They traveled the country from the west coast to eastern Canada and from Alaska to Mexico. They enjoyed participating in RV rallies throughout the U.S. and Canada. Donna's favorite sport was fishing. She enjoyed dropping a baited line in the lake, river, or ocean and wait for the big bite.
Donna passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at her home in San Fernando, CA at the age of 82. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Carl and Bud (George); 2 sisters, Margaret Hanson and Barbara Gustavus.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband Bob of San Fernando, CA; one son Terry Carpenter of Californian 2 grandchildren, Shawn and Jason; 4 brothers, Ken, Ralph, Charles, and Bill; other relatives; and many friends.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Donna's name.
SERVICES
Funeral services will take place 10:00 A.M., Saturday, February 25, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer.

Visitation will take place Friday, February 24, at Warner Funeral Home in Spencer, starting at 5:30 P.M., with family present from 5:30-7:30 P.M.
