Doralene Marie Johnson

February 1, 1924 — August 29, 2011

Doralene Marie Henkle Johnson, the daughter of Harry and Georgianna (Lockman) Henkle, was born February 1, 1924, in Vinton, Iowa. She lived in several different communities in Iowa and Illinois before graduating from Ft. Dodge High School. Doralene married Edward Keith Johnson in Humboldt, Iowa on May 1, 1945. Following their marriage, they lived in Goldfield, Clarion, and Humboldt, Iowa. They moved to Spencer in 1960. Doralene attended nurses' training in Burlington, Iowa, receiving her RN degree in 1945. Fondly remembered as 'Johnny' by her co-workers, she was employed at Lutheran Hospital in Ft. Dodge and at Spencer Municipal Hospital until her retirement in 1990. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and was active in the Order of Eastern Star. Doralene passed away at St. Luke's Nursing Home in Spencer on August 29, 2011. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her sister, Mary Henkle Pike. Doralene is survived by four children and their spouses: Christy Sue and Al Schuster of Spencer, Jo Ellen Johnson of Cedar Rapids, Thomas of Spencer, and Andrew and Barbara Johnson of Bettendorf. Survivors also include Andy's two children and their families: Daniel and Tina Johnson (Dalton), and Sarah and Dan Van Acker, and by Christy Sue's four stepchildren and their families: Allan Schuster, Jr. (Amber), Jennifer and Aaron Williams (Damon and Chase), Rory and Jennifer Schuster (Ashley and Olivia), and Dawn and Lance Holborn.
SERVICES
Memorial Services will be held 1:30 P.M., Saturday, September 3, 2011 at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.

Visitation will be held prior to the services at the funeral home.
