Doris Christine Munger, the daughter of Morris and Agnes (Nielsen) Dalby, was born March 5, 1928 in Huntley, IL. Her childhood years were spent in Dundee, IL, where she received her education, graduating from Dundee High School.
On February 15, 1947, Doris married Donald Burdette Munger, Sr. in Dundee, IL. After their marriage, they lived in Dundee and then Algona before moving to Peterson, Iowa, where they farmed for 40 years. She was a member of the Peterson Congregational Church where she was the first women chairman of the church board, taught Sunday school and was active in all church functions. She enjoyed quilting, painting, sewing and coffee group days.
Doris passed away at Sunset Knoll Nursing Home in Aurelia, Iowa on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at the age of 88. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald Sr. in 2000; her son, Donald Jr. in 2008; a granddaughter, Melissa Munger; four sisters: Elizabeth and Mary Dalby, Kirsten Siffrar and Elly Johnson and one brother, Kenneth Dalby; along with other family and friends.
Left to cherish her memory are two sons: Warner Don Munger of Linn Grove, IA and Leonard (Kelly) Munger of Sibley, IA; one daughter, Dawn (Michael) Fuhrman of Larrabee, IA; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 7, at the First Congregational Church in Peterson, Iowa.
