Doris Vivian Malm, the daughter of Leslie and Gladys (Walker) Baxter was born on September 14, 1931, in Ayrshire, Iowa. She grew up on a farm near Graettinger, Iowa, and received her education in Ruthven, Iowa, and graduated from Graettinger High School in 1950.
On December 19, 1950, Doris was united in marriage to Darrel Malm in Jackson, Minnesota. They enjoyed their time living in many places while Darrel served in the Army, including Japan, France, Korea, Germany, Thailand, and various U.S. states. They moved to Spencer, Iowa in 1973. She was able to be a stay-at-home mom and raise their two boys. Doris enjoyed golfing, bowling, crocheting, cross-stitching, gardening, and especially enjoyed their fishing trips to Minnesota. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, VFW and the American Legion.
Doris passed away on Friday, December 14, 2018, at the Northshire Residence at the age of 87. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Darrel; three brothers: Dale, Alvin, and Robert and her sister, Lucille.
Left to cherish her memory are her two sons: Donald and wife, Deb of Austin, MN and David of Spencer, IA; three grandchildren: Jennifer Yetmar and husband, Nick of Ames, IA, Mark Malm and his wife, Alexis of Ft. Dodge, IA, and Camile Malm of Tampa, FL; a great granddaughter, Adalynn; other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will begin 5:00 P.M., Thursday, December 20th with the family present from 5 to 7:00 P.M., Thursday Evening at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.
