Doris Ida Wiemers, 81, returned to her heavenly home on March 23, 2016, in Spencer, Iowa.
Doris was born in Everly, Iowa, to John and Jennie Geerdes in 1935. She graduated from Milford High School in 1952. After high school she worked in Washington D.C. in the naval department. She married her husband of 62 years, Louis Wiemers, on February 21, 1954. The ceremony was officiated by her brother, Bernard Geerdes in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Their marriage was blessed with two children, DeEtta and Carlin. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Bernard.
Doris is survived by her husband, Louis; children, DeEtta (Rod) and Carlin (Joanne); brothers, Edwin (Ellen) and Harlan (Billie); sisters, Marilyn and Janet (Arlyn); grandchildren, Jami (Brian), Cari (Al), Nicholas and Natalia; great-grandchildren, Sara, Jake, Evan, Reid and Tessa.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Iowa Great Lakes Lutheran School (IGLLS) or Mission Central.
The family of Doris Wiemers wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Pastor Paul Kaldahl, the staff at Home Instead Senior Care, Pastor John Syvertson and staff at St. Luke Lutheran Home, and staff of Gentiva Hospice.

Funeral services will take place 11:00 A.M., Monday, March 28, at First English Lutheran Church in Spencer.
