Dorothea (Babe) Reinke

Dorothea Y. "Babe" Reinke, the daughter of Ubbo and Grace Pulliam Albertson, was born May 2, 1915 in Carroll, Iowa. When she was nine, her parents moved to Manning, Iowa, where her father was engine dispatcher on the Great Western Railroad. At 16, she moved to Hartley, Iowa, where she graduated from high school in 1933. On July 10, 1933, she married Glenn Reinke in Hartley. To this union were born two sons: Merlyn and Robert and a daughter, Glenda. Glenn and she farmed for a number of years near Hartley. Babe enjoyed playing cards, bowling and making afghans. She loved to travel and spend time with her children and grandchildren. She had recently been a resident of the Wellness Center and Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley. Dorothea passed away at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley on Sunday, December 24, 2006 at the age of 91. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glenn on July 11, 2001; three brothers: three brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law. She is survived by her three children: Merlyn and Donna Reinke of Ferndale, WA, Robert and Judy Reinke of Onawa, IA and Glenda and Kenneth Kroger of Hartley, IA; 9 grandchildren and their spouses; 16 great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law: Lois Reinke of San Diego, CA, Edith Reinke of Spencer, IA and Luella Reinke of Spirit Lake, IA; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Memorial Services will be held 1:00 P.M., Friday, January 5, 2007 at the United Methodist Church in Hartley, Iowa.
