Dorothy Eleanor Franseen

April 14, 1925 — July 26, 2014

Dorothy Eleanor Franseen, the daughter of Ray and Esther (Wenell) Gustafson, was born April 14, 1925 in Albert City, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Laurens, where she received her education, graduating from Laurens High School. Following high school, she continued her education for one year at Four C's Business College in Des Moines. Dorothy married Alden Franseen on May 27, 1945 in Stanton, IA. After their marriage, they moved to Spencer, Iowa, where she raised her family and also worked in the office and on the floor at J.C. Penney's. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Spencer. In her spare time, she enjoyed her family as well as needlework and cross stitching. She passed away at the Spencer Hospital in Spencer, Iowa on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at the age of 89. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alden in 2010 and 2 daughters: Barbara Regenitter in 1985 and Joan Shuberg Seyffer in 2006 and one sister Letty Vognsen in 2014. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Linda (James) Ball of Lincoln, NE; one son, Brian (Anji) Franseen of Spencer, IA; 15 grandchildren; many precious great grandchildren; two sons-in-law: Robert Regennitter of Spencer, IA and Daryl Seyffer of Waterloo, IA, one brother-in-law, Lester Vognsen of Minneapolis, MN; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Memorial Services will be 10:30 A.M., Saturday, August 2, 2014, at the First Baptist Church in Spencer.
