Dorothy Evelyn Huberg

May 5, 1915 — April 18, 2019

Royal

Dorothy Evelyn (Zieman) Huberg, the daughter of William and Clara (Crowl) Zieman, was born May 5, 1915, on a rural Linn Grove farm, homesteaded by the family in 1872, six miles south of Royal.  Dorothy grew up with two brothers, Robert and Wendell.  She attended Willow Lawn Country School before graduating from Peterson High School in 1933.

Dorothy married Hjelmer Huberg of Royal on December 27, 1934 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Royal.  Following their marriage, they lived on a farm about four miles southwest of Royal until June of 1955 when they moved into Royal.  This is where they owned and operated Huberg Trucking, and Dorothy managed the business’ books.  In the beginning of their marriage, Dorothy enjoyed tending to her garden, sitting on the front porch with Beulah and being with family.  Chatting with passer-byers and baking fresh rolls for Sunday after church for the family to devour within minutes is also something she enjoyed.  Dorothy always claimed her longevity was because she started her meals with a potato and worked the rest around it.

Dorothy passed away with her family by her side on April 18, 2019, just shy of 104, at the Spencer Hospital.  Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hjelmer on April 9, 2012; two brothers, Robert and Wendell; two sons, David and Charles and great grandson, Justin.

She is survived by her two children: Louise Goode and husband, Bob of Canton, TX  and Roger and wife, Connie of Royal, IA; daughter-in-law, Loueen Huberg of Royal, IA; 9 grandchildren: Gary Huberg, Greg Huberg (Tina), Lori Larson (Jerry), Amy Holtz (David), Scott Kaseman, Mark Kaseman, Beau Huberg (Dana), Jill White (Brad) and Holly Pearson (Jay); 13 great grandchildren: Amber Leonard (Jared), Caleb Huberg, Heath Huberg (Rebecca), Mattie and Emma Larson, Ethan and Kathryn Holtz, Morgan, Maggie and Mara White, Hudson and Greta Huberg and Hunter and Hugh Pearson; great-great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
