Dorothy LaVonne Hein, the daughter of John and Lillian (Kallsen) Tapper, was born January 24, 1924 on a farm near Akron, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Akron, IA. She later graduated from LeMars Central High School in 1942. Following her schooling, she worked at the Blue Printing Office at Boeing Aircraft during WWII. She was later employed by N.W. Telephone Company in Seattle, WA for 2 years. After returning to Iowa, she worked as a dental assistant in Sioux City.
Dorothy married Orlin Wayne Hein on February 3, 1951 in Akron, IA. Following their marriage, they farmed in the Hartley area until retiring in 1981. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hartley. Dorothy was also a past member of the Ladies Aid and Friendly Circle. Since retiring, she enjoyed walking, aquasizing, sewing and crafts. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She passed away at the Prairie View Nursing Home in Sanborn, Iowa on Monday, May 30, 2011 at the age of 87. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Bruce Hein in 1980; her husband, Orlin in 2010; a brother, Lester Tapper in 1998, a brother, Raymond Tapper in 2005 and a nephew, John Tapper in 2003.
Left to cherish her memory are two daughters: Michelle and Terry Triebwasser of Dell Rapids, SD and Melissa and Kelvin Edmundson of Garretson, SD; 5 granddaughters: Amanda, Jessica and Kayla Triebwasser and Cheyenne and Haley Edmundson; one brother, Orville Tapper of Marcus, IA; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Monday, June 6, 2011 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hartley.
