Dorothy “Jeane” Scott, the daughter of Carter Myron and Violet Belle Haley Davis, was born February 20, 1928 in Linn Grove, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent on a farm north east of Greenville, IA. She attended school in Linn Grove for 2 years and then Greenville where she graduated from Greenville High School in 1946, the last graduating class of Greenville High School.
Jeane married William “Bill” Scott on August 1, 1946 at the First Baptist Church in Spencer. Following their marriage, they lived on a farm north of Rossie. Jeane enjoyed raising their children and helping on the farm. She was a great cook and enjoyed gardening. Her greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother. Bill and Jeane wintered in Texas for more than 30 years. She also was a member of First Baptist Church in Spencer, Gold Star Mother and she volunteered at Cutty’s Resort for 7 years.
Jeane passed away on May 12, 2018 at Spencer Hospital at the age of 90. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; two sons, Donald Eugene and David; 2 grandchildren: Kimberly Rolle and Kevin Scott; one brother, Myron Davis; one sister, Darlene Koenig; Jeane’s seeing eye dog of 10 years, Ebert.
Left to cherish her memory are her children; Gary (Denise) Scott of Sioux City, IA and Diane (Dean) Parks of Spencer, IA; two daughters-in-law: Judy Nolting of Spencer, IA and Wendy Scott of Arlington, WA; 12 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren; sisters: Betty Lou (Bob) Orthmann and Glatha Ann (Wayne) Langel of Milford, IA; other relatives and friends.
