DorothyLoats,the daughter of George and Stella Wagner Peterson, was born January 28, 1921 in Titonka, Iowa. She was a graduate of Titonka High School and Iowa State University.
Dorothy married Arthur Loats on August 26, 1945 in Titonka, Iowa. Following their marriage, they lived in Hampton, Iowa. In 1947, they moved to Spencer, Iowa. Dorothy worked at J.C. Penney's in the credit and catalog department and later joined Art in their paint business. Dorothy was active in the Reynolds School PTA, was a Cub Scout and Brownie Leader. She also designed and sewed the original Spencer Tiger Mascot suit for her daughter, Kathie to wear. Dorothy was a member of the Hope Reformed Church in Spencer, Spencer Golf and Country Club and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Dorothy passed away on February 12, 2011, at Longhouse Residence in Spencer, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Art on November 15, 2003; one sister, Loraine Dean.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathie and her husband, Roger Bekel of Moline, IL; her son, CraigLoatsofRochester,MN;two granddaughters: Eric and Nickie Froiland of Rochester and Rachel Loats of Rochester and two great grandchildren, Alexis and Jacob; one brother, Arthur Peterson of Titonka, IA; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at the Hope Reformed Church in Spencer.
