Dorothy M. Beck

Dorothy M. Beck, the daughter of Bayard Franklin and Alta Vera Fink Taylor, was born September 8, 1925 in Langdon, Iowa. Dorothy received her early education and graduated from the Lake Center School. Dorothy married Robert Ernest Beck on September 8, 1943, at the Methodist Parsonage in Spencer, IA. Throughout their marriage they made their home in Spencer. Dorothy worked at Sernetts, Fabric Warehouse, Spencer Pack and as a Daycare provider in her own home. She was an active member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer. In her spare time, Dorothy enjoyed sewing, doing crafts, watching the Twins and most of all she loved spending time with her family. Dorothy passed away at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer on December 1, 2016 at the age of 91. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; son, Roger Beck; daughter, Beverly Beck; daughter-in-law, Chris Beck; son-in-law, Steve Patten 3 brothers: Dale Taylor, Earl Taylor and Ralph Taylor. She is survived by her children: Larry Beck and Norma Patten both of Spencer; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; sister, Effie Curry of Spencer; brother, Clarence Taylor of Spencer; other relatives and friends.
