Dorothy Mae Montgomery

Dorothy Mae (nee Matson) Montgomery was born August 3, 1915, to Paul and Cora (nee Curley) Matson at Webster City, Iowa. She was baptized on October 4, 1915, by Pastor F. L. Ruwell at Webster City, Iowa. Dorothy grew up and received her education in the Peterson, Iowa, school system presenting the salutatory address at her High School commencement on May 26, 1933. On August 26, 1938, Dorothy was united in marriage to Joseph Montgomery in Spencer, Iowa. The Lord enabled them to celebrate their 60th Wedding Anniversary before calling Joe home on August 27, 1998. On March 20, 1949, Dorothy was confirmed at Bethel Lutheran Church in Sutherland, Iowa, by Pastor Elmer Greene. She was a faithful member of Bethel Lutheran Church and of the Bethel Helping Hand LWML. For many years she worked for the Rog & Bob IGA in Sutherland. She was an avid reader, gardener and fisherman. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother Paul Matson. She is survived by her sister Lois Vaske,sister-in-law Kathryn Matson, 5 nieces, 2 nephews, and other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Sutherland.
