Douglas W. Pingel

Douglas William Pingel, the son of William and Carrie (Ware) Pingel, was born July 1, 1942, in Cherokee, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Primghar, Iowa, where he received his early education and attended Primghar High School. He then attended a mechanic school in Kansas City. Doug spent his entire life living in the Everly and Spencer areas. On March 12, 2005, Doug was united in marriage to Anna Michalak in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 1964, Doug opened Doug's Champlain Gas Station in Everly, Iowa. He was also self-employed as an over-the-road truck driver for 54 years. Doug was a member of the Moose Lodge in Spencer, and the Corvette Club. Doug passed away at his home on December 20, 2013, at the age of 71. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, step-grandparents, parents, stepfather and step-son, Craig L. Miller. Left to cherish Doug's memory are his wife, Anna; his children: Curt Pingel and wife, Cher of Pella, IA, Shawn Pingel and wife, Kari of Spencer, IA, Bill Pingel and wife, Peggy of Spencer, IA, stepdaughter, Anje Johnson and husband, Darin of Dickens, IA and step-daughter-in-law, Holly Miller of Spencer,IA; 11 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; 2 sisters: Deb Christenson and husband, Dennis Of Ramsey, MN, Donna Lindow and husband, Bob of Nevis, MN, and step-brother, Derwin Alberts and wife, Judy of Chaska, MN; nieces, nephew and other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, December 27, 2013 at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.
