Dr. Franklin Jay Carver

June 19, 1944 — March 6, 2012

Franklin Jay Carver, age 67, passed at home in Benicia, CA, on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 after his courageous battle with a rare type of soft tissue sarcoma cancer. Born June 19, 1944, in Spencer, Iowa, he lived in Florida- Tallahassee, Miami, Marco Island before settling with his wife in Benicia, CA and winter home in Bonita Springs, FL. Frank completed his undergraduate degree from Buena Vista University; Masters of Science and Doctor of Philosophy from University of Nebraska with graduate studies on factors affecting red blood cell development; and Post-Doctoral Studies at Florida State University on biochemical research on iron metabolism. Frank spent his career dedicated to science in the medical diagnostic and research industries committed to enhancing current products as well as developing leading edge medical instruments, diagnostic controls, and reagents. Frank accomplished his personal career goal of ten (10) patents. Through the years Frank enjoyed his various hobbies: cars, photography, graphic design, computers & all things technology. Frank was a member of the American Society of Hematologists and National Associate Photoshop Professionals and avid donor to National Public Radio and various other charities. Frank is survived by his loving wife- Nancy Cecilia Carver; brother- John Carver & wife Sondy of Decorah, IA; stepdaughter -Heidi Hoch of San Francisco, CA; son- Jason Carver of Fort Myers, FL; stepson Andy Gaugh of Dayton, OH, stepson, Tom Gaugh & wife Patsy of Cincinnati, OH; stepson Shawn Hoch & wife Andrea of Apex, NC; stepson Michael J. Gaugh & wife Sasha of Arlington, VA; and grandchildren Alex, Kaleb, Eleanor, Sam, Charlie and Karson. Frank was preceded in death by his mother and father, Ruthie and Bud Carver.
SERVICES
Memorial services will be held 10:30 A.M., Monday, July 30, 2012 at the Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer.

Riverside Cemetery Spencer, Iowa A lunch and time of fellowship will be held at the Wesley Room located at Grace United Methodist Church following the graveside services.
