Dr. Roger Larson

Roger Lee Larson, the son of Lester Waldo and Virgie B. (Lindgren) Larson, was born September 2, 1933 in Greenville, IA. His childhood years were spent in Greenville, where he received his education, graduating from Greenville/Rossie High School. Following high school, he continued his education at Iowa State University, receiving his Veterinarian degree in 1957. After his schooling, he returned to Greenville, where he began his practice with his father. Roger married Jane Pickering on September 14, 1952 in Spencer, IA. He continued practicing in Greenville, until 1970, when they moved to Spencer, where he opened his own practice with other partners and eventually built Clay County Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Larson retired in 1997 after 40 years of practice. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Spencer. Roger was also an active member of his community as a member of the Masonic Lodge, Spencer Area Shrine Club, the Clay County Fair Board as well as the Iowa Veterinary Association. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting pheasant, duck and deer as well as fishing and golfing. He enjoyed traveling to Africa, France, Italy and throughout the United States. Roger also truly loved attending grandchildren's school events as well as spending time with his wife and family. Dr. Larson passed away at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at the age of 77. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Russell. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jane of Spencer; two sons: Jeff Larson and his fianc�, Shirley Mason of Jackson, MN and Jerry and Lori Larson of Spencer, IA; four grandchildren: Sam Larson and his daughter, Serenity, Kristy and her husband, Bill Borth and their daughter, Jaxon and Mattie and Emma Larson; one sister, Robin and her husband, Aaron Roy of New Hampshire; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, May 2, 2011 at the First Congregational Church.

Will begin at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday with the family present from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.

INTERMENT
Private Family Graveside Service will be held Monday Morning at the Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.
